Around the Grounds, Sunday 17th January

This weeks review from around the grounds

The pre-season games are coming thick and fast for Rockingham City. Last Sunday, a 82 minute goal from substitute Enrique Fernandes was enough to beat a determined Balga side 1-0 and on Saturday 16th all three teams played and produced two wins and one defeat, 14 Goals For & 4 against Ashfield Soccer Club. The first team won 8-2 with goals from Boyle (3), Kennedy (2), L.Collins, Bolan and Zaw. Manager Goran Stajić had this to say about yesterday’s game: “I want to thank Ashfield SC first and foremost for hosting the fixture and my players for their approach and attitude towards working hard since my appointment, they have been phenomenal. I would also like to praise the entire coaching and support staff, without them I can’t perform at my optimum. We started the game with 18 players, we worked very hard, and we finished with 18 players. There were no injuries, except for a few hard impact knocks and fatigue where the rest will benefit them. Training has been of a high standard, a serious professionalism, hard work and when they are tired, exhausted, they never give up. For me this means so much more at this time of the year than the final score, in saying that the goals were of an incredible standard and shows that we can spread our goal scoring prowess”.The other results yesterday: RCFC U18s defeated ASC U18s 4-0 and our U20s lost by 3-1.
