Around the Grounds, Monday 15th March

We start our weekly round up from the grounds, with the news that Mandurah City progressed through to the semi finals of the State League night series. The Dolphins beat a strong Western Knights team 2-1 with goals from Joe O’Brian and Alex Grayson. Mandurah now await the draw for the semi finals to find out their next opponents who will be either UWA Nedlands, Olympic Kingsway or Subiaco. Venue and dates TBA

Rockingham had their season launch on Saturday night. Head coach, Goran Stajic announced his his team squad for the season and announce that Ryan Kennedy and Feisal Zaw will be captains for the year. Stajic spoke passionately to the watching audience about his desire to be successful this season, despite all the pundits predicting Rocky to be the whipping boys this season. Some sad news came from the night, when it was announced that USA player Noah Cavanaugh season is already over having suffered a serious injury in the first night series game.

Rockingham United attended the City of Rockingham Adventure and Community Fun Day on Sunday where they had a have a go session in the hope of recruiting new members for this season. If you missed this event but are still interested in playing, please contact them to find out what spaces are left.

Baldivis Districts have spaces available for this season. They are looking for a few extra players to fill the following teams:

U6 Boys born 2015-16 and girls born 2014-16

U7 Boys born 2014 and girls born 2013-14

U8 Boys born 2013 and girls born 2012-13

U10 Boys born 2011 and girls born 2010-11

U11 Boys born 2010

They also have a limited number of spots for their under 13’s and under 14 teams and would also like to hear from and ladies looking for a team for their Senior women team

The Peel Junior Soccer Association are on the look out for volunteers for the year ahead. If anyone can help out as a ground manager, league coordinator or equipment coordinator, please contact them
