A youthful looking Mandurah City side booked their place in the next round of the FFA Cup with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Football Margaret River.
With both team trying to get used to the very hot weather conditions, it was the visitors who had the first chance of the game when their forward was one on one with the Dolphin’s keeper, but instead of trying to either go around him or shoot hard and low, decided to try a lob, which went so high, report of a UFO were flooding in to the local media.
After this, it was pretty much one way traffic as the hosts showed their quality and opened the scoring with a Jamie Burns Penalty.
From here, the dominance continued and with further goals from Craig Barker , Rory McGrath (2) and another from Jamie Burns, the final score was Mandurah City 5 Football Margaret River 0
After the game, joint coach Kris Donnell said that the Dolphins “Were happy to go through to the next round.” He added “I don’t think played as well as we could have but got the job done and managed to start 7 players that haven’t seen much football during the night series. A few of our players were still available for the under 18’s so it was good to see them stop up to the mark.”
