Mandurah City exited the FFA cup on Saturday but must take great heart in the way they performed, pushing NPL Cockburn City all the way to extra time.
The Dolphins, missing a few key players started off in a positive manner and put lots of early pressure on the visitors. With this pressure came some good, hard and robust challenges, which both sides matched and the referee was happy to let them go, especially in the first half.
During the first half, it was the Cockburn keeper who was the busier of the two but the game remained goals at half time
Cockburn certainly started the second half in a more positive manner and despite having the greater share of possession in the half only created a couple of real scoring oppotunities which the Mandurah keeper was up for with some excellent saves.
With the game finishing 0-0, extra time was on the cards. Within 2 minutes, Cockburn took the lead with a shot from just inside the box. Despite the Mandurah pressure, Cockburn were able to see the game out and progress through to the next round.
