Sunday saw the return of league action for our sides, who had to brave the wind, the rain and the cold weather to play!

In the women’s state league, Mandurah City travelled to high flying ECU Joondalup and things didn’t start well for the Dolphins. after being 2-0 down and then 3-1 down at half time, Mandurah produced a sensational second half display to not only pull level but to come away with an excellent 5-3 win. Despite the win, Mandurah still remain bottom of the table but do have up to 3 games in hand on the teams directly above them.

Peel United continued their fine form in the amateur division 1, with a win over Forrestfield United. Alec Smith scored the only goal of the game in the 7th minute which was enough to keep Peel at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Port Kennedy threw away a 2-1 lead at half time to lose 3-2 to North Beach. This result leaves Port Kennedy in mid table. The highest scoring game of the weekend came in division 2, where J Andrews scored all 7 of Mandurah City’s goals (TBC) in their 7-5 win over Subiaco. The visitors also had a multiple goal scorer with L Thistlewaite scoring 4 of the 5 Subi goals. This result pushed Mandurah to 5th in the table. There was also goals galore in division 3 where it finished Baldivis 4 Woodvale 5. Baldivis went 3-1 at half time with Mat Turner scoring twice but the visitors came back to secure the 3 points. Finally, Rockingham City’s poor season in division 4 continued when they went down 2-0 to Forrestfield United’s B team.

In other notable games on the weekend, Baldivis Districts women’s metro south division 1 team secured a 1-1 draw with MUM FC which kept them 4 points clear of the table. Rockingham United’s men’s metro team were also involved in a high scoring game, where they shared 10 goals with South Perth United in a 7-3 win. A hat trick from J Hayes helped them to this fine win. Mandurah City’s fine form in the metro south division 2 continued with a 3-1 win over Sutherlands Park. This win maintains the Dolphins 100% record for the season so far. It was all change at the top of the metro division 3 as Warnbro Strikers suffered a 2-0 loss at home to Belmont Villa, while Peel United secured a 4-0 win against Armadale. These results now make Peel United the league leaders, level on points with Belmont, while Warnbro drop down to 3rd. The masters south division 2 saw Mandurah City beat Baldivis 5-1 to keep them in the hunt for promotion.

In the junior section, Baldivis won the battle of Baldivis when they beat the Green team 3-0 in the under 13’s south division 4. Peel United’s under 16’s team remain top of the league with a 9-1 win away from home against Whitford City while in division 5, Baldivis beat Port Kennedy 5-1 to remain top of the table. More goals in the under 18’s division 4. Port Kennedy travelled to Woodvale and came away with a 10-1 win with hat tricks from Ericson and Schilling, while in the local derby game, it finished Warnbro Strikers 4 Baldivis 4

In the girls section, Rockingham City’s under 14’s division 3 side remained top of the table with a 2-0 win away to Hamersley Rovers. This win maintained Rocky’s 100% record.
