The Saturday Review

Another Saturday in the NPL and State league and unfortunately another Saturday where both of our teams come away with nil points.

Rockingham City continued their run of home games but the out come was as the previous ones as they went down 3-1 to Sorrento. With first team coach, Goran Stajic away due to Football Australia commitments in Sydney, both of Rockys assistants in Lee Taylor and Stu Newman took full control of the team but even this wasn’t enough to get the win they desperately need. Sorrento went into a 3-0 lead with goals from Roberts, Witschge and Cummings and never looked like losing the lead. Rocky had Hamish Van Dieken sent off in the 2nd half and only a Harry Bolan goal in the dying minutes gave Rocky something to cheer at.

In the State League, Mandurah City’s top 4 hopes took a dent as they went down 3-2 to Subiaco.  The home side went 2-0 inside 10 minutes before Mandurah pegged it back to 2-2 by half time with goals from Boyle and Becsi.  It was the host team that got the winner in the second half which now means Mandurah are 5 pints off the top 4 but do have a game in hand, which is being played this week at home to Swan United.

It was also junior cup round weekend on Saturday with the results as follows:
