
We will start off our Study review with the games played on Friday night.
Mandurah City’s division 2 amateur side comfortably beat West Nam United 5-0. A couple of goals from D Stockdale made this an easy victory for the home side. Meanwhile the reserves drew 2-2.
Saturday’s action and for a short 15 minutes, Rockingham City had climbed off the bottom of the table as they won 2-1 at home to Inglewood United and at the time, Balcatta were losing 2-0. However, 2 late goals from Balcatta now means both Rockingham City and Balcatta are level on points and to make things even more exciting, next Saturday sees Rockingham City v Balcatta.
As for the game against Inglewood, 2 goals from Van Dieken, including an fantastic solo effort for his second were enough to see of the visitors.
Mandurah City’s top 4 hopes look even further away now as they lost 4-2 away to Western Knights. Despite taking the lead and being 2-1 up at half time, the Dolphins could not hold on and eventually 2 late goals from C Byrne gave the home side all 3 points. This result now means Mandurah are 10 points off 4th placed Joondalup United with only 5 games to go.
There were also 2 cup semi games on Saturday. In the girls under 14’s cup, Rockingham United of division 2 traveled to Caramar Shamrock Rovers of division 1 but were unable to cause an upset as the home side ran out winners 3-0. In the girls under 18’s cup, it was a much closer affair, with the final score being MUM FC 0 Mandurah City 0. Penalties had to settle the tie and unfortunately, Mandurah’s spot kicks were not as accurate as the home team who eventually won 4-2 on penalties.
