Peel United’s title charge took a massive step forward as they defeated 4th placed North Beach by 5 goals to nil on Sunday afternoon.
In a quiet start for Peel, it was the visitors who had the lion share of possession and chances for the first 20 minutes, with the home side having to thank keeper Dan Fretwell in keeping a clean sheet with a couple of outstanding saves.
It was really Peel’s first main attack that lead to the opening goal. A break down the right and the North Beach defended tripped the attacker which lead to a penalty being awarded.
Jack Manuel made no mistake from the spot kick and it was going to be a good day for Manuel as he got his and Peel’s second just a couple of minutes into he second half.
The to goal cushion seemed to relax Peel and they started to play some decent football. Scott Martin added a third before Manuel got his well deserved hat trick with a crisp powerful shot in the 67th minute.
Alex Smith then finished the scoring as he cut inside from the left wing shoot low in the bottom of the net to make the final score 5-0 to Peel.
In the other games in the amateur leagues, PK secured a fine 3-2 win over Gosnells City helped by a double from C Price.
In division 2, Mandurah City could not follow up Friday nights good win as they lost 4-0 at home to 2nd placed Maccabi, while in division3, Baldivis are still in relegation troubles as they also lost 4-0 at home to Brozzy FC.
In divison 4, Rockingham City got a well earn point as they drew 1-1 with high flying Northern City.
