The Weekend Review

The end of the season in nigh, but that does not stop our teams and clubs fight out for promotions and relegations across all divisions.

First off, apologies for no podcast this week, time and work commitments made it really had to fit one in but we will be back next week, please contact us if you want to be on it. We have some guests lined up for “specials” but really want and need more people for the week to week football scene. Not long left with the season so don’t be shy, come and say Hi!

Saturday football and two ‘dead’ games to preview. Rockingham City say farewell to the NPL as they travel to Floreat Athena for their last game of the season. Coach Lee Taylor has spoken about the game and giving opportunities for the young players to have a taste of senior football and to start the building for next season. Rockingham will be in the same division as rivals Mandurah City and they are at home on Saturday to Subiaco.

Sunday’s action is a different affair for some of our clubs. Peel United’s quest for promotion continues as they play 4th placed South Perth United. Should Peel win and both Emerald and East Perth lose, they will need 1 point from their remaining 3 games to win the league. Port Kennedy are also at home on Sunday to Southern Spirit. PK will be looking for the 3 points that will guarantee division 1 football next season. Mandurah and Carramar will play out a mid table game in division 2 while Baldivis welcome La Fiamma, who will travel all the way from Geraldton, in a game both sides will be desperate to get 3 points to try and avoid relegation. Rockingham City in division 4 have the day off as their opposition, Alkimis-Quinns FC have decided not to play.

In the Mens’ Metro Leagues, South Division 1 sees Rockingham United host Fremantle City while Baldivis travel to MUM FC while in South Division 2 there is a local derby when Murray District Rangers host Mandurah City. Mandurah will be league champions with a win in this game. Port Kennedy are at home to Fremantle City while in South Division 3, Peel United travel to Belmont Villa, Warnbro Strikers are at home to Southern Spirit and Baldivis are away at Perth AFC. n the South Division 4, Baldivis are at home to Kalamunda United.

Finally, in the Masters, South Division 1 sees Rockingham United host Fremantle City and Mandurah City are away to Sporting Warriors.
