
There was scene’s of joy at Bortolo Park on Sunday afternoon as Peel United secured the division 1 championship for a second season running.
Only needing a point to get the title, Peel went behind in the first half, which was mainly a scrappy affair.
From the start of the second half, Peel changed tactics slightly and used the pace they have on both wings and before long Peel raced into a 3-1 lead. Despite a last minute penalty of the visitors, Peel held on to secure the league title and start planning for the amateur premier division next season. Staying in division 1 for next season are Port Kennedy, who got the point in a 0-0 draw that secured their position in the division.
Mandurah City in division 2 had a one 4-1 win away at Westnam United while Baldivis in division 3 are still in danger of relegation after a 3-1 loss at home to AFC Perth. There was good news in division 4 as a changed Rockingham City side featuring some experienced players, won at Cracovia 3-2, with Robbie Galvin scoring the winner 15 minutes from the end.
