They say the best things come to those who wait and that was definitely the case for Mandurah City’s metro side on Sunday.
Having had a couple of previous tries to wrap up the league, it was third time lucky as they comfortably beat Queens Park 4-1. Goals from Summerskill, Ford (2) and an own goal finally confirmed Mandurah as champions of the south division 2. In the other games in the division, Port Kennedy drew 1-1 with Beeliar Spirit while Murray District Rangers had a very welcome 1-0 win over Victoria Park which lifted them off the bottom of the table.
In the south division 1, Baldivis drew 1-1 with Victoria Park which meant the teams remain in 2nd and 1st place respectively. Goals galore in the south division 3 games. Nine were scored at Bortolo Park as Peel United lost 6-3 to Perth Saints, 8 were scored in the game between Victoria Park and Baldivis with the away team winning 5-3 while there was only 5 goals when Warnbro Strikers beat Sporting Warriors 3-2. These results now mean Baldivis are in 3rd, Warnbro 4th and Peel 5th in the league.
