Congratulations to Murray District Rangers Soccer Club’s Carl Duxbury who was recognised as the June winner of Football West’s Best of the West Award.
When receiving his prize, Carl writes “It’s a pleasant feeling to be recognised as a volunteer in the Best of The West June shares and thanks to my club Murray District Rangers for my nomination. I am very humbled by all the support.
All we can do is lead by example and hope more follow. I’d like to think that all recognised deservedly as without them our sport wouldn’t function.
My lifelong passion is football and my goal has been getting our local club up and running and our new facility built. My biggest joy is seeing our ground full of young fooballers every weekend, enjoying our great game.
Thank you everyone who voted, to Football West, Think Mental Health and Computing Australia Group”
The recognition for Carl’s efforts comes only a week after the South Yunderup Pavilion was officially opened with Robyn Clarke MLA, and Andrew Hastie in attendance for the opening ceremony.
Best of the West is supported by The Computing Australia Group and Healthway’s Think Mental Health campaign. The initiative shines a light on the extraordinary volunteers in the WA football community.
Carl will receive a $100 sports voucher thanks to Healthway and is now a nominee for the Volunteer of the Year award where the winner will win a branding package from Computing Australia worth $5000.
