Mandurah City had one of their biggest attendances for quite some time to witness Leigh Griffiths debut and the vast majority of the crowd were not disappointed. Although Griffiths was the main attraction of the game, it was Craig Barker who stole the show with 2 goals in Mandurah’s 3-0 win over Western Knights. Griffiths however did not disappoint the crowd as he was also was on the scoresheet, just before half time with a shot from outside the box. With the 3 points, Mandurah remain in 3rd place, but now only 2 points behind 2nd placed Knights with only one league game to play.
Before the games were played on Saturday, Olympic Kingsway needed a point to secure the league, but they got all 3 in a 7-0 demolition of Rockingham City. Kingsway were 1 up after just a minute and 3 up after 15. Then in the second half, They scored their 4th just after half time and when Byrne scored his 4th and Kingsway’s 7th of the afternoon, the league title was won.
