Away from the playing side of the game, many clubs have got events going on or planned, so here is a look at what is happening round out clubs and beyond.
Mandurah City:
Mandurah City have already started to sign players for next season. With the bulk of this seasons squad staying for another year, coach John Baird has recently signed up Rockingham City centre forward, Shaun Mukwevho for the 2023 season.
Mandurah City are also hold their annual summer 5 a side and 7 a side competitions. These games take place on a Wednesday night, starting from the 12th October. Registration forms for the competition can be found here: https://www.mandurahcityfc.com.au/copy-of-the-club
Trials for the juniors are happening on the 11th and 14th October. The trials will go towards selecting the squads for the NPL and development teams for 2023. Players are invited to express their interest by filing out this form online Expressions OF Interest
Rockingham City:
Perhaps the biggest name signing for our local clubs comes from Rockingham City who are delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Stevens as Club Technical Director. Gary has enjoyed an amazing footballing career playing for Everton and Rangers for long spells during their most successful eras. He has many accolades including a European Cup Winners Medal. With 46 appearances for England including in 2 World Cups his football experience is unrivalled in our community.
The club are having a parent and player forum on Thursday 15th September. The club invites all current and future players to come along and hear what the club has in store for the 2023 season. The events starts at 6.30pm at the Lark Hill club house.
Rockingham City are also holding the kick it sevens competition during the first part of the summer. With the games being played on a Friday evening, starting from Friday 21st October and running for an 8 week period, these games are designed for ages between 9 and 14. Peel United:
Peel United are inviting all present and past players, coaches, members, and friends to acknowledge 10 years of the club and all it has achieved with dinner, drinks, awards and celebrations. Murray District Rangers:
The team at Murray District Rangers recently had an awards ceremony where they announced only their fourth life member. Kate Matthews-Morgan joins Carl Duxbury, MaryAnn Williams and Robyn Mounsey in this achievement . The club said that Kate has volunteered at the club for the past 15 years, taking on such roles as team manager, juniors coordinator, coach, committee member….all while being a working Mum, FIFO wife & Mum to her 4 boys. Congratulations Kate and keep up the good work.
Port Kennedy:
On Friday 9th September, Port Kennedy attended the annual Clubs WA award ceremony in Fremantle. Along with being recognised for the clubs 25th season, they were also awarded the Clubs WA Achievement Award for our overall growth, resilience and commitment through out the redevelopment of the Club over the past 18 months.
Working along side the Peel Regional Walking Football Club, walking football is on every Wednesday evening between 5 and 6pm. This is free to join and open to both men and women and there is a free cuppa in the club house afterwards.
