Around The Grounds

It’s that time of the week when we take a quick look at what has been happening around the grounds this week.

On Saturday, the Peel Walking Football Club are holding their first tournament of the year. Games start at 9am and all spectators are welcome to come and have a look, especially those who are thinking of playing in the near future. The competition is at the Mandurah Aquatic Centre and goes until 12.30.

Rockingham City is looking for coach for their girls under 14’s to join their community and make football fun for the girls. For more information, please email your interest to president@rcfc.net.au The club have a range of coaches and staff who are able to support you for a smooth transition into the club. They offer mentoring throughout the year plus an educational seminar to further develop leadership, coaching and motivational skills. The state league side are in action on Saturday night, as they travel down to play South West Phoenix at Hay Park Bunbury for a pre season game. Kick off is at 6.45pm

Also in action on Saturday night are Peel United, who play Balga Reserves at 7pm at Bortolo Park in a pre season friendly. This is the teams second game, having beaten Port Kennedy last Sunday 2-1.

Murray District Rangers are looking for a coach for their social side for this season. With new facilities, it will be great opportunity for someone to grow the club and help increase the playing group. Players are also invited to contact the club with a view to play for this year. Walking Football is continuing with Port Kennedy this year. Played on a Wednesday evening from 5.30pm at the Warnbro Oval. It only cost $5 a session, but the first session is free. Just turn up, bring a water bottle and have fun. If you are not quite old enough for walking football, they have a women’s masters team that are looking for players. Training is on Wednesday nights from 6.30 at Warnbro Oval and if this interests you, contact Andy on 0403 347 795

Warnbro Strikers Soccer Club Mens Under 18’s Team are looking for a few new additions to the team. With a great Coach & a good bunch of lads, this team has been successful in the under 16’s winning the div 1 league. If you enjoy playing the game and have the desire to improve, show commitment and to be a part of a well organized team, then please contact Linda – 0423 348 810.

AFC Rockingham returns for the 2023 season to welcome back all past and new players. AFC are located in the southern Rockingham area and looking for players to join or return to the div 1 and 3 social teams, masters 35s and 45s. Fees are $300 and kept low thanks to great support from their local sponsors. Please contact them via email afcrockingham@gmail.com 1st training session will be 6.45pm start on Thursday 2nd Feb @ Laurie Stanford reserve in Singleton.

If your child was born in 2018 or older and wants to give soccer a go, come on down to the Rockingham United Football Club! Preseason training continues on Tuesday 31st January at the Paul Garnett Reserve, Cooloongup. The club fields girls, boys and mixed teams from age 5 and up. The soccer season runs from April – September. Training days are Tuesday & Thursday at the following times

4:30pm 5-11 year olds (1 hour)

5:30pm 12-14 year olds (1 hour)

6:15pm 15+ and Senior Women

No trials – everyone gets a go!
