Saturday morning saw the Peel Regional Walking Football Club hold their first tournament of 2023. Players and teams from as far away as Wanneroo, Ashfield and Perth, along with our local players took part in a 6 team round robin competition.
The standard was very high, with some completive game being played throughout and after all the group games were played, the final was between the Peel Ramblers and the Pipers.
The final was a close affair, with the Ramblers taking an early lead. tactics then played a part as they tried to hold onto this lead by “Parking the bus” in front of their gaol and this tactic so nearly worked, before an equalizing goal with a couple of minutes left meant the game went to a sudden death penalty shoot-out.
Neil Morrison, held his nerve for the Ramblers to score the vital penalty, which meant the Ramblers won 2-1 and win the trophy.
