An Aaron McCready header from a John Baird corner gave Mandurah City a 2-1 win over Western Knights in the Australia Cup. Mandurah went ahead in the 10th minute as Joe O’Brien continued his goal scoring streak but the home side levelled just 5 minutes later through Bardsley. The game then turned into midfield battle before McCready’s winner in the 70th minute. Western Knights tried to get the equaliser and nearly did with a long range shot that hit the crossbar but other than that, Alfie Brincat in the Mandurah goal wasn’t really troubled and when the Knights were reduced to 10 men, there was no getting back in the game for them.
Rockingham City put on a much better performance than their league position showed but still went down 2-0 to NPL side Cockburn City but ha better luck in the other cup games. In the under 18’s, two goals from Hay and another from Brayne was enough for Rockingham to win 3-0 against Cockburn and in the reserves cup, Rockingham won 4-2.
